Meet the Lion at the Cotswold Lion cafe

Following the official handover of the keys to the Friends of the Cotswolds charity in July, the Old Prison at Northleach now has a brand new cafe – the Cotswold Lion - recently opened and providing a much-needed and long-awaited facility for the local community and visitors to the area.

To help celebrate the opening of the new cafe, a ‘Meet the Lion at the Cotswold Lion Cafe’ event will take place this Sunday 1 December from 11am to 3pm.

The event will provide a unique opportunity to meet a real ‘Cotswold Lion’ sheep provided by Steve Parks, former Chairman of the Cotswolds Sheep Society who has raised his own flock of Cotswold Lions from 1999 onwards.

As well as a chance to meet a ‘Lion’ and sample the cafe menu, visitors on Sunday will also be able to attend the official signing of a new book – The Old Prison – The Story of the House of Correction at Northleach by Michael Banks.

Children’s activities plus a range of rural craft demonstrations and stalls selling gifts, crafts and local produce will also be available at this free event.

The cafe, run by the Cotswolds Conservation Board, prides itself on providing quality, home-made and locally-sourced food and drink from around the Cotswolds. Along with historic Court Room, the Cafe will be available to hire out for events and meetings.
