One of the key forces for change in the Cotswolds today is the pressure from development, changing lifestyles and transportation. It is predicted that within the next 20 years the UK population is going to increase by around 10% and that the South West will see a significant population rise of around three-quarters of a million people.

The development that will be needed to accommodate that rise will have a negative impact on the Cotswolds if it is not managed properly and the board has made a commitment to ensure that the Cotswolds landscape is considered in the regional and national strategies and plans that are put in place to address these issues.
